Beyonce looking a typical habesha, shaking her shoulder like traditional Ethiopian Dancers

Beyonce Giselle Knowles, often known simply as Beyoncé, is an American R&B recording artist, actress and fashion designer. Beyonce recently released a new music video ” Girls who Run the world” made an impressive dance which make me to think in a different angle. At the beginning of the music video she makes an Ethiopian like dance, shaking her shoulder. For me that is really looks like the traditional dance , locally known as Eskista.

I am a big fan of Beyonce and now am loving her much more because I saw her shaking here shoulder like me and my fellow Ethiopians who loves Eskista dance.

Beyonce has joined millennium celebrations in Ethiopia with a concert to mark the Ethiopian millennium, on October 2007.

Wearing Ethiopian white, cotton traditional dress she was visiting different places in Ethiopia. On the concert that lasts for two hours she was fascinated by thousand of fans that goes crazy about her in the hall.

“I want to thank you,” the R&B star told the screaming crowd Saturday evening in return. “You have been one of the best audiences of my lifetime.”

In my very personal opinion she wasn’t only interested about it. Rather she must have also attracted by Ethiopian cultural dances. I can clearly notice the impact of her Ethiopian Visit on her new music video ‘who run the world girls’. Where else can she bring this very Ethiopian way of dancing with shaking her shoulder? Directly to Beyonce; I really Loved the way you dance. I need you to say something about it.

This is a remix of the dance with a traditional Ethiopian music by Neway Debebe.

The following Ethiopian music videos would show how Ethiopians dance

Manalimosh Dibo

Tigist Afework
